Stripboard and calendar
Drag strips between days or straight onto a date in the calendar, add day breaks and banners, undo every step. Cast IDs are never cut off - the strip grows instead.
Demo project with invented scenes. Strip colours are the Blockshot Studio set - or yours, straight from your file.
What's inside
Drag strips between days or straight onto a date in the calendar, add day breaks and banners, undo every step. Cast IDs are never cut off - the strip grows instead.
Invite heads of department and producers to follow the latest schedule. They comment on a strip or a day and send suggested changes - you decide what goes in. Publish a version and everyone gets it by email.
One Line Report, Full Fat, Breakdown, Day Out of Days and the stripboard itself - on A4 or US Letter, as PDF or Excel.
Design strips, reports and calendar printouts on a real page preview - or bring in the layouts already saved in your .msd files.
Drop in the PDFs: scene headings, eighths and speaking characters come in as breakdown sheets. Print sides for any shooting day.
Run a second unit alongside the main one. Blockshot flags an actor booked twice on the same day or scheduled against a red flag.
Coming from Movie Magic?
Blockshot reads your .msd files with their boards, breakdown sheets, elements, calendars, colours and layouts - and shows a check report of everything that came in and anything it can't use. It also checks that a copy saved by Blockshot matches your original file.
When someone on the production still uses MMS 6, export a regular .msd and send it over.

We invite assistant directors and production teams in small groups, so every request gets read. Tell us a little about your work and we will be in touch. Everything on this page works today; we are still fine-tuning, and what you report gets fixed fast.
No. Blockshot is a scheduling tool on its own - start a new schedule from a template or a PDF script. Opening and exporting .msd is there for when you or your production still work with MMS 6.
In your account, on servers in Frankfurt, EU (encrypted nightly backups are stored with GitHub in the US). Only you and the people you invite can open them. You can download any schedule as a Blockshot file or a .msd at any time.
Your scripts and schedules sit in your own account on servers in Frankfurt, EU. For a script under NDA, choose "script only on this computer": the PDF never leaves your computer and only the breakdown goes to the cloud. We never sell your data; only the providers that run the service process it for us (listed in the Privacy policy), and we do not look at it unless you ask us to help with a problem.
Yes. Every report and the stripboard itself print on A4 or US Letter, as PDF or Excel - with a real page preview before you print.
Early access is free. After launch, an individual licence costs $197 a year or $28.88 a month, and a production licence for the whole AD team costs $12.68 per shooting day, never more than $629 per project, prep days free - in the US, the UK, Western and Northern Europe and other high-income countries; less elsewhere. Try it free for 30 days. Students use it free.
They stay in your account. We will announce the end of early access and any pricing at least 30 days ahead, and you can download every schedule as a Blockshot file or a .msd at any time.
Yes. Your AD team edits the schedule, while heads of department and producers follow the latest schedule read-only, comment and suggest changes. Everyone sees who else is in the schedule right now.
English and Czech now. German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish and Brazilian Portuguese are being checked with working ADs. You can print reports in a different language than the one you work in.
